Emmet Jr. Richard Stockton Emmet Jr. (March 10, 1871 – February 7, 1897) was an American lawyer and politician from New York. ==Life== He was born on March 10, 1871, in New Rochelle, Westchester County, New York, the son of Richard Stockton Emmet (1821–1902)〔(The Emmet Family ) at emmetart.com〕 and Katherine (Temple) Emmet (1843–1895).〔(''A Small Boy and Others: Henry James'' ) edited by Peter Collister (University of Virginia Press, 2011; pg. 35)〕 He attended St. Paul's Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Columbia Law School. He was admitted to the bar, and practiced law. On June 6, 1894, he married Mary Lamport Olyphant, and their only child was Mary Olyphant Emmet (born 1895).〔("Richard Stockton EMMET" ) in GEER Ancestry, at RootsWeb〕 Emmet entered politics as a Republican. He was a member of the New York State Assembly (Westchester Co., 2nd D.) in 1897. Lyon, Albany NY, 1897; pg. 206f)〕 New York Attorney General Thomas Addis Emmet (1764–1827) was his great-grandfather, Col. Robert Temple Emmet (1854–1936) was his first cousin, and Robert Morrison Olyphant (1824–1918) was his father-in-law.
